Breakfast Topic: How much do you let yourself be spoiled? - Mon, 21 Sep 2015 13:00:42 +0000

With BlizzCon coming up, we’re due to get a lot more information about Legion. BlizzCon will, of course, reveal a lot of the story, and when the beta starts we’ll start to see datamining. Most of the datamining is easy enough to avoid if you don’t want spoilers, since it’s relatively contained in items or […]

Deck Tech: Control Warrior - Mon, 21 Sep 2015 01:00:08 +0000

At a Fireside Gathering tournament I held last weekend, it didn’t surprise me (or anyone) that the final four players brought Warrior decks. Three out of the four finalist decks were Control Warriors. It does seem that Warrior decks in general are trending down, but of the 17 players who attended, five were Control Warrior, […]

Arcane Sanctum: Secret Mage spells - Sun, 20 Sep 2015 23:00:25 +0000

World of Warcraft has been around a long time now. Even if you’ve been playing since launch day, you may not have been playing a Mage, or you may be relatively new to the game altogether. Either way, when a game is around for this long there are so many things to know about that […]

The Queue: Who are these angry men? - Sun, 20 Sep 2015 17:00:36 +0000

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

Look, I generally think I have a pretty good handle on Warcraft lore. But I don’t think I know who these two angry dudes are on WoW‘s map pane. One of them is sort of Illidan-y satyr-ish, the other is wielding lightning in a very Thor-in-a-wizard-robe kind of way.  I’m assuming they’re constellations of some sort, given the stars haphazardly placed on both of them, but they don’t look Titan or Sargeras enough to really fit either one. One of these days I’m going to have to find a definitive answer for that one. Until then, I’ll settle for answering the questions you guys have thrown my way.

BlizzCaps: The good old days shall not return - Sun, 20 Sep 2015 15:00:06 +0000

People who started playing WoW after early vanilla may never truly appreciate what an achievement getting your epic mount was, especially for raiders. Grinding in Tyr’s Hand for weeks to get the gold was so time-consuming that most of us thought Warlocks and Paladins ‘had it easy’, even though their epic mounts were only slightly […]

Breakfast Topic: I want more bonus bosses - Sun, 20 Sep 2015 13:00:12 +0000

It wasn’t until Timewalking’s debut that I really started to appreciate Eck’s presence as a bonus boss in Gundrak. Back in Wrath, I found it pretty cool to have a boss appear in Heroic that wasn’t in the Normal version of the dungeon, but I didn’t think much else of it. Now that a few […]

Role Play: How to approach roleplayers - Sun, 20 Sep 2015 01:00:16 +0000

So you’ve gotten all of the character creation out of the way and come up with an amazing story for your new roleplaying character. But that’s really only the beginning of roleplaying. Character creation is just creating a piece to play on the board. The board itself is the game, and you aren’t really roleplaying […]

Blood Pact: Improving Affliction - Sat, 19 Sep 2015 23:00:09 +0000

Demonology is getting a rework (again) in Legion, and we don’t know anything about what Destruction has in store. With the announcement of the Insanity resource for Shadow Priests, I imagine our DoT-loving brethern have some changes in store for them. I just hope Affliction isn’t left out in the DoT-spec love. The DoT spec […]

Finishing the seasonal journey in Diablo 3 - Sat, 19 Sep 2015 21:00:40 +0000

Diablo 3’s Season 4 came out with seasonal objectives, a way for seasonal players to explore various areas of content in the game while on their way to earning cosmetic rewards. Some players will stop at just one level 70 for that Heroes of the Storm mount. More players will complete at least Chapter 4 […]

PC Gamer interview with Hearthstone’s Ben Brode reveals more deck slots - Sat, 19 Sep 2015 19:00:55 +0000

It’s been many weeks since The Grand Tournament was released for Hearthstone. We’ve seen the meteoric rise of Paladins on the ladder due to Murloc Knights and Mysterious Challenger. PC Gamer had an opportunity to sit down and interview Senior Game Designer Ben Brode to talk to him about how the new cards have impacted the game, […]

New rewards in 2015 for Brewfest and Harvest Festival - Sat, 19 Sep 2015 18:00:38 +0000

It’s that time of year again, where the seasonal events stack up like greedy consumers on Black Friday. Saturday brings the arrival of the two-day Pirates Day, followed by Brewfest on Sunday, and the Harvest Festival on Monday. While Pirates Day is mostly an excuse to dress like a scallywag and draw out the ‘r’ […]

The Queue: Today is my birthday - Sat, 19 Sep 2015 17:00:41 +0000

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

Today is my birthday, Aimee, and I don’t want any questions from you. I just want you to hand over every single last thing on that cart — except for the gingerbread man, you can keep that until sometime December-ish. Also I want you to direct me to whoever has the good coffee out here. And while I’m waiting, I’ll answer some Queue questions, because why not?

BlizzCaps: A serial killer whale - Sat, 19 Sep 2015 15:00:10 +0000

Out, damned spot! No matter how hard submitter Saliira of Aerie Peak (US-A) scrubs and scrubs, she just can’t get the blood out of her fins. Some might say that washing yourself when you’re already submersed in water is a little foolish. Others say that it’s perfectly normal for orcas to messily devour seals, otters, […]

Breakfast Topic: What can you never seem to finish? - Sat, 19 Sep 2015 13:00:15 +0000

Ah, the Argent Tournament. I remember feverishly doing dailies back in patch 3.2, intent on unlocking everything and completing my reputation as fast as possible. Back then, I found the mount rewards impressive, but once I’d reached exalted and still didn’t have them all, continuing the dailies was a bit more than I could handle. […]

Know Your Lore: The future of the Forsaken - Fri, 18 Sep 2015 22:00:51 +0000

Sylvanas Windrunner had a choice to make at the end of Wrath of the Lich King, and initially, she chose oblivion. It wasn’t until she realized that the entirety of the Forsaken would be left behind to fend for themselves and die out that she changed her mind. She made a pact with the Val’kyr, […]

Locked and Loaded: The Survival Hunter fantasy – What is it? - Fri, 18 Sep 2015 20:00:12 +0000

I was recently perusing the old Hunter talent trees and was pretty taken aback by how much flavor the specs have lost over the years. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer the modern talent system, but there was something cool about being able to spec yourself as a true Survival Hunter if desired. Talents that […]

Blizzard and Random House deal brings new writers to Blizzard franchises - Fri, 18 Sep 2015 18:00:21 +0000

If you’ve noticed that Blizzard has stopped publishing novels during Warlords of Draenor, well, there’s a reason for it — Blizzard is now working with Random House to release novels for each of its settings. New novels set in the Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo settings are apparently in the works, written by famous names. Random […]
