Hand-drawn Hearthstone cards take the game offline - Sat, 24 Oct 2015 21:00:20 +0000

Sure, we’ve seen paper Hearthstone cards before, but those color-printed versions are somehow less charming than these hand-drawn versions. These homemade Hearthstone cards do answer one important question, though: just how do you play Hearthstone without an internet connection? For one Korean soldier, the answer was to draw each card, complete with card text, for […]

Role Play: Roleplaying a dual class character - Sat, 24 Oct 2015 19:00:49 +0000

Sometimes, it’s possible to get a little too invested in the process of character creation. You put together a character with a really amazing back story, someone who has some really good plot points you can work with, someone that you’re really excited about roleplaying. And then you get to the point where you actually […]

The Queue: That was Rad….en - Sat, 24 Oct 2015 17:00:49 +0000

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

With the help of some friends, this week I finally got around to knocking out Throne of Thunder on Heroic and seeing the elusive Ra-den in his natural habitat. Well…okay, not his natural habitat, just the habitat he’s been stuck in since being imprisoned by the Thunder King however many thousands of years ago. So less “habitat,” more “really, really sad and depressing hamster cage,” or something along those lines. Regardless, it was a lot of fun and I saw a lot of things and took a lot of screenshots and have another chunk of material I’m currently digesting with my tinfoil hat on. Let’s get to your questions!

BlizzCaps: Like a lead zeppelin - Sat, 24 Oct 2015 15:00:55 +0000

Submitter Gimmlette writes, “With world PVP in such a sorry state, it can be really tough to get the attention of the Horde when you want to do a bit of ‘We take over your town; you take over ours.’ Ahhhh. The old days of Southshore/Tarren Mill battles. Spectacular Death on Llane (US-A), always looking […]

Breakfast Topic: Alternate History - Sat, 24 Oct 2015 13:00:15 +0000

No, I’m not talking about Draenor this time. Instead, I want you to imagine that at launch, instead of whatever your favorite class is, World of Warcraft was just now introducing it to the game as a hero class. Imagine that you’ve waited years and now, at last, that class is being brought to life, […]

New Warcraft art updates - Fri, 23 Oct 2015 22:00:36 +0000

Some new art updates have been added to the official World of Warcraft website, including a selection of new concept art, fan art, and a new comic. The new updates for Warlords of Draenor are pretty interesting, as most of them appear to be a Diablo-esque top-down conceptual view of some of the locations in […]

The Warrior’s Charge: How class balance changes - Fri, 23 Oct 2015 20:00:24 +0000

When we first got the news about Legion, I wrote this post and I said in it that Demon Hunters weren’t taking our jobs. And that much is true — despite the fact that the Demon Hunter will be a third tank/DPS class (joining Warriors and Death Knights) and a sixth tank (Warriors, Paladins, Druids, […]

Know Your Lore: Characters we hope to see in Legion - Fri, 23 Oct 2015 18:00:53 +0000

When World of Warcraft: Legion was announced, the official site for the new expansion included a cast list, similar to what we saw with the Warlords of Draenor website. It’s a pretty good cast list, with a few characters we haven’t really seen in the spotlight before — Genn Greymane and Maiev Shadowsong have both […]

The Queue: I am not nostalgic by nature - Fri, 23 Oct 2015 16:00:16 +0000

Unless it’s dinosaurs we’re talking about. Then I’m incredibly nostalgic. I love dinosaurs.

This is the Queue. Let us go forth and answer questions. Well, actually, just I’ll be doing that.

BlizzCaps: Alemental plateau - Fri, 23 Oct 2015 15:00:10 +0000

Hallow’s End and alcohol — two great tastes that taste great together. Raid team members Ramo, Chay, Ooll, and Squash of Gruuls Gone Wild on Aerie Peak (US-A) found that with careful application of the Mysterious Brew, they could all turn into Alementals of varying sizes. (Note: Do not combine Halloween and alcohol outside of […]

Breakfast Topic: The Destroyers of Worlds - Fri, 23 Oct 2015 13:00:17 +0000

Legion is about the coming of the Burning Legion to Azeroth, and that has me thinking about what kind of shape Azeroth will be in after they show up. They’re not gentle, and the last time they were on Azeroth they left us such presents as Felwood, the Tainted Scar, the destruction of Dalaran and […]

Activision Blizzard creates new eSports division - Fri, 23 Oct 2015 00:00:46 +0000

Activision Blizzard previously was split into only two game divisions: Activision and Blizzard. But now our favorite gaming company has added a third (of yet unnamed) division to be focused on eSports — and has pulled in some big talent to do it. Heading up the division is new Chairman Steve Bornstein, formerly CEO of ESPN, and […]

Spiritual Guidance: Our own class fantasy - Thu, 22 Oct 2015 22:00:49 +0000

BlizzCon soon approaches, and with it Legion‘s promise to go back to the fantasy of each class. Priests are unique because their class fantasy derives from their individual races, rather than the class itself. As I spoke previously regarding Class Halls, the Priest class changes depending on the race. In lore, Priests aren’t the same […]

Hallow’s End invades Heroes of the Storm - Thu, 22 Oct 2015 20:00:17 +0000

Hallow’s End, Blizzard’s Halloween-inspired World of Warcraft holiday, is making its presence known in Heroes of the Storm with a week-long Hallow’s End event starting October 27. What does this entail? Well, quite a bit — a new mount, a new skin, and even a Hallow’s End themed bundle for you to pick up. Taking […]

Howling Hallow’s End in today’s WoW livestream on Twitch at 2 p.m. CDT - Thu, 22 Oct 2015 18:30:51 +0000

Hallow’s End is in full swing and we might decide to partake of the festivities in today’s livestream — more likely, however, is we continue questing through Howling Fjord on our road to Dragonblight. We’ll be streaming today at 2 p.m. CDT. You can join us below or directly on Twitch. And if you missed […]

Battle.net voice chat to test during Overwatch beta - Thu, 22 Oct 2015 18:03:11 +0000

Voice chat is one of those features Blizzard has seemingly worked on forever. Blizzard’s built-in voice chat didn’t really catch on in World of Warcraft, in part due to the  presence of third party options like TeamSpeak, Ventrilo and Mumble. But FPS games are a different animal, and Blizzard seems to realize focused voice chat […]

The Queue: I never could get the hang of Thursdays - Thu, 22 Oct 2015 16:00:33 +0000

Is it Thursday again? Apparently it’s Thursday again, which means it’s my turn to write the Queue again. I really never could get the hang of Thursdays.

So let’s skip the Thursday confusion and go on to your questions, where we talk BlizzCon, Ahn’Qiraj, bodyguards (and my one true love, Vivianne), and more.

BlizzCaps: A non-stop flight to Phoenix - Thu, 22 Oct 2015 15:00:40 +0000

Submitter Exmachinax of Dawnbringer (US-H) writes, “I call this picture ‘To The Moon’, because … well, it is self-explanatory, isn’t it? Though I have to say that it iss quite surprising that a goblin tried to reach the moon flying on a phoenix instead of riding a rocket!” Want to see your picture here on […]

Breakfast Topic: Who’s the best familiar face you’ve seen on Draenor? - Thu, 22 Oct 2015 13:00:17 +0000

I think one of the things I’ve really liked about Warlords of Draenor is that we’re on Draenor — it’s Outland, but not Outland at all. This means that a lot of the familiar faces I loved from Burning Crusade have shown up at one point or another, maybe a little different in appearance, but […]
